Computer simulation of copolymer phase behavior

چکیده
Discontinuous molecular dynamics simulation is used to study the phase behavior of diblock copolymers modeled as chains of tangent hard spheres with square shoulder repulsions between unlike species as a function of chain length, volume fraction and interaction strength (x). The location of the order–disorder transition for a symmetric copolymer is close to the predictions of Fredrickson and Helfand. Our simulation results for packing fractions of 0.35, 0.40, and 0.45 and chain lengths 10 and 20 are summarized in phase diagrams which display disordered, lamellae, perforated lamellae ~PL!, cylindrical, and BCC spherical ~S! phases in the xN versus f plane. These phase diagrams are consistent with phase diagrams from other simulation studies. Contrary to theoretical predictions we observe the PL phase near regions of predicted gyroid stability, and the S phase only in the systems with high packing fraction and long chain length. These discrepancies may be due to the short chain lengths considered, as they are less evident in the 20-bead chains than the 10-bead chains. We examine the structural spacing of the microphases and the variation of that spacing with xN . We also examine the internal energy and entropy and their variation with xN . Our results are consistent with self-consistent field theory results for the strong segregation limit. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1519839#

Adsorption of Multi-block and Random Copolymer on a Solid Surface: Critical Behavior and Phase Diagram
The adsorption of a single multi-block AB-copolymer on a solid planar substrate is investigated by means of computer simulations and scaling analysis. It is shown that the problem can be mapped onto an effective homopolymer adsorption problem. In particular we discuss how the critical adsorption energy and the fraction of adsorbed monomers depend on the block length M of sticking monomers A, an...
متن کاملClosed-Form Analytical Equations to Transient Analysis of Bang-Bang Phase-Locked Loops
Due to the nonlinear nature of the Bang-Bang phase-locked loops (BBPLLs), its transient analysis is very difficult. In this paper, new equations are proposed for expression of transient behavior of the second order BBPLLs to phase step input. This approach gives new insights into the transient behavior of BBPLLs. Approximating transient response to reasonable specific waveform the loop tran...

Hydrodynamic behavior of aggregative fluidized beds has been studied and a model proposed for the prediction of different characteristics of fluidized beds. According to this model, a computer program is prepared and the hydrodynamic behavior of some industrial units has been simulated.
متن کاملPhase behavior of ditethered nanospheres †
We report the results from a computational study of the self-assembly of amphiphilic ditethered nanospheres using molecular simulation. We explore the phase behavior as a function of nanosphere diameter, interaction strength, and directionality of the tether–tether interactions. We predict the formation of seven distinct ordered phases. We compare these structures with those observed in linear ...
